With over 20 years in the electrical industry, Matt founded MKW Electrical Contractors in 2017 with a clear objective: raise the standard of electrical service across the North East. From the beginning, the business has been built around structured systems, attention to detail and putting the client first on every project.

Matt’s experience spans installation, supervision and project management across both domestic and commercial environments. Today, he balances hands-on site involvement with leading the continued growth of the business and mentoring the team. What drives him most is development. Clients who feel confident and looked after, and electricians who take pride in raising their own standards.

One project particularly meaningful to Matt was MKW’s work for Otis and his family. It was not about profit or profile. It was about supporting the local community and delivering something that genuinely made a difference.

Originally from Whitley Bay, Matt enjoys golf, football and family life outside of work. He is known for his dry sense of humour and ability to keep the team grounded, but when it comes to installations and client communication, his expectations are clear and uncompromising.

For Matt, professionalism begins at the first enquiry. Listening carefully, defining scope properly and delivering work that stands up to scrutiny. More than two decades into his career, he has built MKW into a brand recognised for consistency, accountability and trust from first call to final certification.

Originally from Cambridge, Roger followed in his father's footsteps and into a career in the trades, beginning a journey that has now spanned more than 25 years as an electrician.

Throughout that time, Roger has built a reputation for exceptional workmanship, technical knowledge and an unwavering commitment to doing things properly. His understanding of electrical installations is second to none, and his ability to diagnose faults and carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) is often described by clients as nothing short of remarkable. Many joke that his fault-finding abilities are almost "mystic" – an assessment not far from the truth for those who have seen him work.

Away from the tools, Roger is a firm believer in discipline and consistency. He starts most days with a structured morning routine and maintains a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and a passion for nutritious, home-prepared food. The same attention to detail that shapes his personal life is reflected in every aspect of his work.

Known for impeccable timekeeping, professionalism and an eye for detail, Roger takes enormous pride in delivering safe, compliant and high-quality electrical installations for homeowners, landlords and businesses throughout the North East.

One of Roger's greatest strengths is his commitment to developing the next generation of electricians. He plays a key role in supporting apprentices at various stages of their training, sharing decades of experience, practical knowledge and industry insight. His patience, guidance and willingness to teach have helped shape many electricians beginning their careers.

Phil brings over 10 years of hands-on electrical experience to MKW and has developed his career within the company, becoming a fully qualified electrician and a key part of the team. Having grown alongside the business over the past four years, he specialises in rewires, first fixing and delivering structured installations to current standards.

What Phil values most about his role is the variety and responsibility that comes with each project. From domestic upgrades to large-scale commercial work, he takes pride in maintaining MKW’s high standards on every job. A standout project for him was the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor, where long days away from home were matched by a disciplined, high-quality finish the whole team could stand behind.

Originally from Whitley Bay and now living in South Shields, Phil enjoys spending time with his fiancée and son outside of work. Still making it back for his mam’s Sunday dinner whenever he can.

Phil believes electrical work should be done properly, with no shortcuts and no loose ends. His approach is simple: treat every property with the same care, precision and respect as if it were his own.

With over 15 years in the electrical trade, Jackson brings strong technical knowledge and a sharp eye for detail to the MKW team. His experience spans smart lighting, rewires, design-led installations and high-end finishing work, with a focus on delivering clean, precise results that stand up to scrutiny.

Since joining MKW, Jackson has embraced the structure and standards the company operates by. One of his standout projects was a high-end LED garden lighting installation using premium products to create a controlled, refined outdoor space that transformed the property. For Jackson, it is not just about how the installation looks on day one, but how it performs long term.

Originally from Blaydon, Gateshead, Jackson is rarely still outside of work. Training in the gym, playing golf and staying active are part of his routine, reflecting the same discipline he brings to site. He keeps morale high within the team, but when it comes to installation quality, his expectations are consistent and uncompromising.

Jackson believes attention to detail is what separates a good job from a professional one. Every cable run, fitting and finish should reflect the MKW standard. His aim on every project is simple: deliver work clients feel confident in and build relationships that last well beyond completion.

Jo has been part of MKW since its foundation and plays a central role in the structure and organisation behind every project. With more than 20 years immersed in the electrical industry, she understands how work should flow from initial enquiry through to completion, certification and aftercare.

Overseeing scheduling, documentation, team coordination and client communication, Jo ensures projects move efficiently and nothing is overlooked. For many clients, she is the first point of contact and sets the tone for the MKW experience: clear, responsive and professional.

Originally from North Shields, Jo balances her role within the business with a strong interest in fitness, nutrition, camping and long walks with the family’s dogs. Her background includes time training with the Army, which perhaps explains her structured approach and high expectations when it comes to organisation and standards.

For Jo, attention to detail is not just about paperwork. It is about accountability. Every enquiry, every booking and every certificate matters. Her focus is simple: ensure clients feel informed, supported and confident in MKW from the first call to final sign-off.
